The programme below describes the range of activities covered during any day. Activities are topic based and planned on a half-term cycle.
Morning Session
Free time until all children have arrived.
Registration and group discussion: Discussion time will
be used in a
number of ways – for general discussion of a topical issue, for group teaching,
or on occasions just for an informal chat.
Adult-supervised activities: These activities are carefully planned to cover all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and may be indoor or outdoor.
Snack time: A drink (milk, water or juice) and a snack will be provided. This is also a time when healthy eating practices are discussed and encouraged.
Story time.
Music, dance or movement: Creative expression is encouraged through music based activities and drama.
Outside activities: 10-15 minutes of this
time is spent in an adult
led physical activity to stress the importance of exercise and increased heart
rate for our general wellbeing. The rest of the time is an adult-supervised
time for the children to continue their learning in an outdoor environment.
Lunch Break
Lunch is provided by
parents, and is also a time
for learning many social skills.
Afternoon Session
Quiet /rest time for looking at books or watching an appropriate DVD.
Afternoon activities cover a similar range to the morning but, as the children tend to tire, the activities are generally less intensive.
